It’s more important than ever that you understand what tools you have at your disposal and why they are essential to your career. Part of the indie revolution is putting the data in the hands of the artist. There are many ways that you can lose control of this data by ‘giving’ it to someone else (MySpace, iTunes, etc.). I think that Ian Rogers makes a very strong argument in the video below for why you need to sell music directly from your own website (in combination with all the other avenues your fans want and expect).
