New research in the Harvard Business Review focuses on Twitter, based on a survey of 300,000 Twitter accounts. Apparently the top 10% of prolific Twitter users account for more than 90% of tweets on the micro-blogging service - and even more startlingly, 75% of users have tweeted four times or less. Ever.
It’ll add more fuel to people who suggest that Twitter is more about geeks and meeja people than the mainstream population. The Lightspeed Venture Partners blog, which reported the news, makes the link with recent research from Nielsen claiming that 60% of the people who sign up to Twitter don’t come back the next month.
